There are eleven Centenarians that reside at the Wayne County Nursing Home. This past February, before our lives were changed, I was so fortunate to take their portraits. I was only able to spend about 5-10 minutes with each of them since they were on their way to a big 100th party in their honor. Their families came and even our local assemblyman came and presented them each with a certificate. Matie. (Above) You might recognize the cute face in the photo above. It's Matie!
Robert hired me over 35 years ago as a mechanical artist and graphic designer at a direct mail company. That was the beginning of a whole lot of fun times. It was the 80s, so probably too much fun (if there is such a thing.) I admit, we had some pretty long lunches. If Robert was my art history teacher in college I would have spent much more time awake in class. He talks about artists with passion and makes you wish you knew them. Oh, and did I tell you, Robert is a phenomena
Yes, she does have the sweetest face ever. And yes, she is as sweet as she looks. Joanne is a very beautiful 84 year old that is mom to my friend, Charles. I visited her at her home to take her portrait. She welcomed me like we had been friends for years. Absolutely, the most important thing to me in getting a great portrait is making my subject feel comfortable. Well, guess what. After about 5 minutes of meeting Joanne, she’s the one that made me feel comfortable. She share
On the corner of Putnam and Franklin in Brooklyn, there's a Mexican bar that serves outstanding guacamole, tacos with fish, shrimp or pulled pork, and other tasty menu items. It's where I had my first Mezcalita which is a margarita that uses mezcal in addition to tequila; even better than the classic. Mezcal has a smokiness that mingles with lime perfectly. Okay, it's not just the yummy food, it's the atmosphere, it's the hug from David, the owner, and the wave from Ale
My dear friend Janet has 2 sisters and 1 brother. She also has a 96 year old mom, Loretta. Janet describes her mom as feisty, sharp, opinionated, liberal, indomitable spirit, a fierce competitor in Scrabble, a jazz enthusiast, an avid reader and a genealogist—whew. Don't you love her, already? Recently Janet and her siblings all got together at Janet’s very beautiful home and I took some group portraits of them. So, guess what they gave their feisty mom for Christmas. Yup, a
This is Leo and Owen, the Browar brothers. When it comes to getting great portraits of kids, you have to go with the flow. They will let you know when it's time to shoot. If they gotta run, they gotta run. If they need a little distraction (like Goldfish crackers), then so be it. So, in between these cutie pie smiles were bouts of running, jumping, hootin' and hollerin' (kid-style), dinosaur talkin' and cracker snackin'. In the end we got some absolutely beautiful portraits A
I would like you all to meet the little pumpkin that makes my heart so happy these days. Her name is Gabriella and we call her Gabby. She may be the happiest baby I've ever met. But, I might be a little bias. She's always a great sport about letting Gammy (that's what I want her to call me) take her photo (unless, of course, she's hungry, tired, needs a changing, all that baby-life stuff). Out we go, into the beautiful fall day. Found some big trees at a friends house which m
