A portrait for Loretta.

My dear friend Janet has 2 sisters and 1 brother. She also has a 96 year old mom, Loretta. Janet describes her mom as feisty, sharp, opinionated, liberal, indomitable spirit, a fierce competitor in Scrabble, a jazz enthusiast, an avid reader and a genealogist—whew. Don't you love her, already?

Recently Janet and her siblings all got together at Janet’s very beautiful home and I took some group portraits of them. So, guess what they gave their feisty mom for Christmas. Yup, a beautiful 11 x 14 portrait of her children. I don’t care how old you are, that is a sweet gift that every mom would love.

Below is the final image that they decided on for the print to give to their mom. Take it from me, they are as kind as they look. A writer, a retired postman, a painter and a historical interpreter. That's a lot of talent in one family. Loretta must be so proud.

The final reveal.

Yes, yes. I know you all are asking how Loretta liked the portrait. Me, too! So I asked Janet if she wouldn't mind videoing the big moment. She did. (thank you, Janet.)

Moments in Life.

The in between shots when they are talking with each other and having a good laugh are keepers, for sure. Those are edited to black and white and put into the “lifestyle” category file. These are the photos that assure me that my clients had a great time, and that's why I do it. Period.

Before we meet.

I spoke to Janet before the photo shoot to schedule a day and time for the shoot and also to see how much space she had in her home since I would need to set up a 7 foot backdrop for a group of 4. Indeed, her home was very spacious. It’s always important to have that pre-shoot conversation about space and attire and process. Then there are no surprises. It also gives me a chance to get to know you a little before showing up.

What size print to order.

It can be difficult to "guess-timate" the size photo that you would like for your home. The photo below shows a 20 x 30 framed portrait. It sounds like a really large photo but, as you can see, it fits nicely over small fireplace.

I can help you in estimating sizes that will fit nicely into the space that you have in your home.

Don't wait.
